WHY:

According to hunger statistics, 1.5 million New Yorkers currently live in poverty, struggling to afford rent and medical care and put food on their tables. This includes single parents who, of necessity, often go without to provide basic necessities for their children. The "Queen for A Day" makeovers will provide much needed clothing items and an opportunity for single mothers from all backgrounds to enjoy some personal time of social interaction.

The women will be treated to a delicious meal, a time for making new friends, hair and make up styling and the highlight of the morning: "shopping" for their own outfits in the Clothing Bank's vast warehouse. "We want to let these mothers know that they are lovely and appreciated," said Anita Burns, the NYC Clothing Bank Director. "It's a day to boost self-worth as well as self-image."

The New York City Clothing Bank is a division of the Peter Young Housing Industries & Treatment organization and partners with over 200+ New York City nonprofits to provide $3 Million yearly in brand new clothes to those in need.

The Retail Network brings real estate professionals together in innovative ways, creating environments that push past the typical barriers of connecting to facilitate a meaningful, purposeful and supportive professional community.
