100th Anniversary Indy 500 'Stinger' Concept Car by Window World Headed to Home Show in Tampa

State-of-the-art concept car appearing in Tampa Sept. 2-5 pays tribute to Indianapolis 500 history and raises money for deserving charities through Window World Cares

Tampa Bay-area residents attending Florida's Largest Home Show at the Tampa Convention Center are in for a special treat as Window World, Inc., America's largest replacement window and home remodeling company, will feature 'The Stinger,' a 2011 concept show car and tribute to the first winning Indianapolis 500 car. The Stinger will be on display in booth 2000 near the center stage area from Sept. 2 - 5 at the Tampa Convention Center.

The Stinger showcases the signatures of more than 160 former Indy 500 starters. Window World Cares, the charitable foundation of Window World, is making a donation for each signature received to support causes such as St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and Veterans Airlift Command. Since 2008, Window World Cares has raised more than $2.1 million for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and supported 16 missions for Veterans Airlift Command and donated more than 40,000 miles.

Currently, the Stinger features the signatures of legends and drivers, including Mario Andretti, Dan Wheldon, Dario Franchitti, Buddy Rice, Tom Sneva, Johnny Rutherford, Scott Dixon, Helio Castroneves and Bobby Unser. Tony Stewart and Robby Gordon, both current race car drivers, signed the car on Monday, Aug. 22.

"The Stinger's visit means a piece of Indy 500 history will be in west Florida," said James Roland, owner, Window World of Tampa. "We invite Tampa and residents in surrounding areas to come out and see this one-of-a-kind car that will also be used to give back to the community through donations raised for Window World Cares," he said.

"The story of the Stinger is a story of hope we can tell through Window World Cares, from children battling life-threatening diseases to wounded or special needs soldiers who have stood up for our freedom," said Tammy Whitworth, chairman and CEO, Window World, Inc. and co-founder, Window World Cares. "The Indianapolis 500 legends have served as inspiration to those who race, but it is the children, veterans and their families that we work with on a daily basis that inspire us to do all we can to help."

The No. 100 Stinger, developed by John Andretti, Andretti Autosport and Window World, was unveiled at the 100th Indianapolis 500 in May. It features a yellow and black color scheme taken directly from the 1911 Marmon Wasp.

"Window World has been involved in motorsports for many years, and we are proud to pay tribute to Indy legends and those that make racing what it is today," said Dana Deem, president, Window World, Inc. "More importantly, we're humbled to tell the story of our work with St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and hope we will inspire others to contribute to this worthy organization."
