$137,000 Will Go a Long Way for Small Connecticut Organizations: KBE Building Corporation Is Focused on Charitable Giving

Online, July 25, 2013 (Newswire.com) - In just the first six months of 2013, KBE Building Corporation (KBE) (www.kbebuilding.com) has donated $137,000 to numerous organizations in Connecticut.

The donations were given in honor of the company's 50 Ways to Make a Difference initiative. Launched in 2009 to celebrate KBE's 50th year in business, the program formalizes the construction company's 50+ year legacy of charitable giving, and focuses on providing support for children, seniors, and military personnel. The annual program is funded by significant corporate donations, personal donations from the firm's three owners, and donations and volunteer time contributed by KBE's 120+ employees.

Donations were given to the following Connecticut organizations, programs, and events:

Tower One/Tower East assisted living community's Wellness Initiative program, which provides health-conscious activities for the seniors living at Tower One and Tower East in New Haven, CT; Capitol Region Education Council (CREC) Foundation's Musical Instruments Fund, which provides musical instruments to children in elementary and middle schools in the Greater Hartford, CT area; University of Connecticut's Student Union Enhancement Fund, which provides financial support to the University's students. The donation was given in honor of Chuck Morrell, the winner of KBE's "Thousand Bucks" website contest; Connecticut Special Olympics Dream Ride in Farmington, CT, a charitable 40 mile motorcycle and car event that raises funds for the Special Olympics; Connecticut Brain Tumor Alliance's (CBTA) Laughter on the Brain, a non-profit organization sponsored comedy event dedicated to raise awareness and provide support for people living brain tumors. KBE was a premiere sponsor of the event; Operation Gift Cards, an organization that provides gift cards to wounded veterans and their families; Racing 4 Vets, a charity that provides motorsports training and outreach programs for disabled U.S. military veterans. The donation was given at the Occupy the Oval R/C race in Enfield, CT in March; The Puppy Rescue Mission vendor, tag, and bake sale fundraiser that was held in Connecticut in March. The Puppy Rescue Mission, which is based in Texas and Colorado, raises money to bring home animals that served as companions to American soldiers in warzones; and Special Olympics Connecticut (SOCT) for their Summer Sailing Program.

KBE employees also volunteered their time for several events, including:

Hands on Hartford Backpack Nutrition program, which provides healthy food to 275 children a week. Hands on Hartford is an organization that creates volunteer opportunities for groups throughout Greater Hartford, CT; National Guard "Breakfast with the Easter Bunny," program, which invites National Guard families to meet the Easter Bunny; and the St. Francis Hospital Golf Tournament, which also features a live and silent auction.

In the next few months, KBE employees will also volunteer at a few staples of the 50 Ways program, including the Connecticut Special Olympics Dream Ride in Farmington, CT, the Hole in the Wall Gang Camp Challenge Ride, and the Cove Race.
