The students of FORE School of Management (batch of 2012-2014) became the first ever to experience what can only be referred to as a one-in-a-lifetime opportunity From March 31, 2013 to April 5, 2013. The FORE School of Management, along with the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, organised an international immersion programme wherein nearly 180 students of FORE School of Management (first year) along with four faculty members spent 5 days in Hong Kong. The visit was planned as an attempt to broaden their learning and give them an international perspective.

A first-time experience, the programme was designed to offer the maximum exposure to students, both to the culture of Hong Kong and its style of business. Over the five days, the students went on corporate visits and had classroom sessions with some of the finest teachers of Hong Kong Polytechnic University. The teachers gave them a glimpse into the world of business in Hong Kong , i.e. from it's business environment, to its financial strength, to the state of the art in marine logistics, etc. Simply put, in a span of only 5 days the students had a fair idea about what makes Hong Kong the trade hub that it is. Moreover, the expertise of the teachers in their respective subjects, along with the brilliant way in which they handled the questions , made this a learning experience never to be forgotten.

However, it was definitely not 'all work and no play' for the students. Since the idea was to expose students to the culture of Hong Kong as well, there were city tours, a beautiful inaugural function (which included the traditional 'dragon dance'), visit to the street market (Mong Kok) and many other sights and sounds. Students acquired not just knowledge, but memories; whether it was the view from Victoria Peak, or the picturesque skyline, it was all breathtaking. A visit to the famous Madame Tussaud's wax museum was too good a chance to be missed, and left everyone spellbound. The travel across the exceptional MTR ( metro rail system of Hong Kong), or the playful, almost comical, bargaining at shops in Mong Kok; trying out the new cuisine or overcoming the language barrier; the visit to corporate offices or the lectures by eminent teachers - all these experiences made the five days at Hong Kong the perfect blend of professional learning and cultural sensitisation. The students came back enriched by experiencing, in the words of Prince Charles, 'one of the most successful societies on Earth.' Or better yet, in the words of the students themselves, "In these five days, we felt we lived the best part of our lives so far."
