Green building product manufacturer has its carbon footprint analyzed and offest with EcoAid for carbon neutral status.
Online, June 24, 2010 (Newswire.com) - HSS Brings Their Green Calling Full Circle With EcoAid
SCOTTSDALE, AZ (June 23, 2010) - Hybrid SIP Systems, LLC, a leading provider of hybrid structural insulated panel systems for residential, commercial, industrial and institutional builders worldwide, recently became carbon neutral utilizing Arizona's only carbon offset company, EcoAid.
The company's founder, Jeff Black, is passionate about going green and is the driving reason behind the genesis of their patented product. "For the first time people around the world are united in finding solutions to care for the planet, it is taking precedent over many of our other conflicts. I wanted to create a product that would leave a legacy," stated Black. "Going carbon neutral is our way of bringing our mission full circle."
The patented, environmentally friendly, Hybrid SIP System (HSS) is a load-bearing, panelized wall and roof system utilizing an expanded polystyrene foam insulation framed in lightweight steel. The sustainable or green characteristics of the product include: a tighter building envelope which reduces allergens, mold, dust and other toxins from inside the home creating a healthier living space; a high R value equating to reduced energy costs; recycled and recyclable products in the frame construction; and the ability to reduce time and costs in the construction process.
"HSS panels are certainly green from an operations standpoint offering a low cost alternative building material, reduced need for heavy equipment and tremendous insulating properties; all characteristics that speak highly of the company's awareness of its carbon impact. Adding offsets as a way of neutralizing this impact is a demonstration of their ongoing commitment. " says Brendan Cook, EcoAid Sustainability Director.
"EcoAid made the carbon footprint analysis process easy to understand, which is right on track with their mission of educating and bringing awareness to the importance of the carbon issue," added Black.
Along with becoming a carbon neutral facility HSS is undergoing a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) of their green building product through EcoAid.
"LCA's help us determine which products use the most sustainable practices and materials," says Cook, "which inherently opens doors for product evolution and innovation in the discovery process."
Black believes "a third party audit provides validation that simply makes good business-sense. It will highlight how reliable and valuable the product's attributes are for building in today's world."
