1st Singapore company to release comic book app for the iPad
Online, May 21, 2010 (Newswire.com) - FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
SINGAPORE-May 21, 2010- Omnitoons Pte Ltd officially launched its application, Bard's Dream, for the iPad today. The application is based on William Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream and comes with an appealing revamp - the classic play appears as a comic book. Targeted at anyone who's interested in Shakespeare, particularly English Literature students, the application is designed to make the Bard's play less daunting and easy to digest. With exquisitely hand-drawn panels from renowned comic illustrator Mike S Miller, who has worked with big names like Marvel and DC, the application makes the play engaging and mobile.
"I'm glad that we have developed an application that can help students and others who want access to this play. Personally for me, the app made the play even more appealing because of the attractive graphics," said Karen New, Head Honcho of Omnitoons Pte Ltd. The application comes with line-by-line text from The Arden's Shakespeare edition but with a quick switch in settings, changes into simple modern English. Already eye-catching on the iPod Touch and iPhone, the play transforms into a magnificent large comic book on the iPad's 9.7-inch resolution screen.
Bard's Dream comes complete with an autoplay feature, in 3 different transitions, and a bookmark feature. Future plans for the application include an option to read the play in Chinese. "It's a bid to bring Shakespeare to more of the masses. I think by adding Chinese, we can open up the play to a demographic limited by language," added New.
Bard's Dream for iPad is available on the App store: http://itunes.apple.com/sg/app/bards-dream-ipad-lite-version/id369324765?mt=8#
