6th annual 'Gift of Gobble' is firm's signature charitable event

Two hundred needy Connecticut families will enjoy their own classic Thanksgiving dinner, courtesy of KBE Building Corp.’s Northeast regional office in Connecticut.

During the firm’s 6th annual “Gift of Gobble” event on Nov. 22, KBE staff members and their families assembled 200 meal kits containing all the ingredients of a classic Thanksgiving dinner: turkey, stuffing, gravy, cranberry sauce, corn, beans, potatoes, yams, rolls, apple pie, pumpkin pie, and a roasting pan.

KBE purchased all food items from Bozzuto’s, and W.B. Mason donated the boxes.

After assembling the meal kits, KBE volunteers delivered the 200 boxes to the following eight organizations:

·         Catholic Charities of Hartford

·         Cardinal Shehan Center in Bridgeport

·         Columbus House in New Haven

·         Columbus House in Middletown

·         Farmington Community Services

·         FISH Food Pantry in Torrington

·         Food Bank at Access Community Action Agency in Danielson

·         Gemma Moran United Way/Labor Food Center in New London

Staff at KBE’s Mid-Atlantic regional office in Maryland also assembled and delivered 25 donated meal kits to needy local families. All food items were purchased from Harris Teeter grocery stores. Harris Teeter contributed $500 in gift cards, and Harris Teeter Construction Project Manager Kevin Ross personally contributed $100 in gift cards.

It’s All Because of 50 Ways

“Gift of Gobble” is the signature event of KBE’s corporate philanthropic program, 50 Ways to Make a Difference.

Established in 2009 to celebrate the firm’s new ownership, name change, and 50 years in business, 50 Ways has helped KBE associates donate more than $1.2 million and 5,000 volunteer hours to charitable causes benefiting children, seniors, and military veterans in Connecticut and Maryland.

KBE’s other 2014 charitable efforts included $17,000 in scholarships to students within Connecticut’s technical high school system and the Founding Sponsorship of a Connecticut Public Broadcasting Network (CPBN) original documentary, Made In Connecticut, which can be viewed here.
