2009: A Year of Indulgence for Some

Luxury e-tailer sees little sign of recession when it comes to buying for Baby

Richmond, VA - 1/12/2010 In a time of cut backs and economic uncertainty there is one demographic that has remained untouched by the recession: affluent babies and children. While there has been a universal tightening of the purse strings, parents are still splurging when it comes to their children and their children's rooms.

"PoshTots offers more than a space for a child to sleep or play. We introduce fantasy and creativity in to their world," says co-founder Andrea Edmunds. "You can't put a price on a child's imagination."

Perhaps it isn't just children who benefit from a fairytale escape, but parents as well. As anxiety over economic issues continues, opening the door to 'Happily Ever After' is a comforting indulgence for any age. "Fortunately our business wasn't affected as seriously as most by the economic downturn," says Edmunds. "That's a testament to parents' desire to introduce an element of style and heirloom quality into their children's rooms."

Furniture in custom colors with decorative details, or adorned with hand-painted storybook motifs were standouts in company's collection in 2009. Another trend for the year, parents worked with PoshTots' in-house design team to fashion one-of-a-kind bedding in luxe fabrics to coordinate with custom furnishings.
A five-foot Carrot Dresser ($9,000) and the company's signature Fantasy Coach Bed ($47,000) were two of the many over-the-top, whimsical pieces that have continued to catch the eyes of design-savvy parents. Another indulgence that made the top sellers list was the hand-carved, intricately painted Guinevere Crib ($3,650), which boasts an eight-foot lace-draped canopy. Extravagant versions of parenting and nursery necessities - designer diaper bags and custom upholstered gliders - remained favorites as well.

Celebrating its tenth year, online and in its print catalogue, PoshTots has earned the reputation as the "children's designer of choice" for set decorators, interior designers and style conscious parents in Hollywood and around the globe. The company's distinctive style, unparalleled customer service and steadfast commitment to fine craftsmanship have established PoshTots as the premier destination for the most extraordinary children's furnishings in the world.
