Alyx Smith was born in northwestern Ohio. She began a love affair with reading, writing, and art at a young age. Finding direction at sixteen, Alyx unearthed a zeal for writing and honed her skills into a passion that led to earning seven Scholastic Art & Writing Awards between 2009 and 2010, including a Gold Key for her Senior Writing Portfolio and receiving a National Silver Medal for her short story, "Chalk Dust" at Carnegie Hall in New York, NY.
