2012 BMW 3 Series Now Available at BMW of Watertown

Online, June 19, 2012 (Newswire.com) - BMW of Watertown is pleased to announce the arrival of the 2012 BMW 3 Series to its showroom in Watertown, CT. The sixth-generation 3 Series sedan is bigger and lighter, will have a hybrid variant and can park itself.

One of the biggest changes to the 2012 BMW 3 Series models is the mechanics. The 2012 328i model is powered by BMW's TwinPower turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine. It produces 240 hp, 260 lb-ft of torque and will accelerate the car from zero to 60 mph in 5.7 seconds. The 335i still features BMW's N55 turbocharged six-cylinder engine. Both models will have electric steering and a Driving Dynamics Control button that introduces the new Eco Pro system, which works to make the car more efficient. The electric steering is also available with an optional parking assistant that scans for open parallel spaces and guides the car in hands free.

The 2012 3 Series hybrid model, the ActiveHybrid 3, is powerful and efficient. It pairs the N55 six-cylinder engine with a 55 hp electric motor for a total system output of 335 hp and 330 lb-ft of torque. The ActiveHybrid 3 will improve on the 335i's fuel economy by 12.5 percent and gets an estimated 37 miles to the gallon. It also has an intelligent navigation system to optimize routes and further improve fuel efficiency.

The 2012 3 Series sedan is about 3.7 inches longer and rides on a 2.0-inch-longer wheelbase, which increases legroom for passengers. Despite the increase in size, the sedans weigh 88 pounds less than previous models. BMW will offer the 2012 3 Series in three different lines: Sport, Luxury and Modern. Each will get its own interior and exterior color palette.
