2013 La Habra Spring Citrus Fair

The 'Good Times' themed 4th Annual Street Fair Returns with Four-Fun Filled Days of activities featuring New Attractions, Fan Favorites, Tasty Treats and Thrilling Rides. April 18 to April 21 on La Habra Boulevard, General Admission is Free

The 2013 La Habra Spring Citrus Fair returns with a 'Good Times' theme. This year's event promises to be bigger and better than ever, with four fun-filled days jam-packed with new attractions, exciting stage shows, thrilling rides, tasty treats and fabulous merchandise.General Admission is Free. Advance Discount Ride Tickets may be purchased through the La Habra Chamber of Commerce.Fair hours are Thursday, from 5:00pm to 10:00pm, Friday from 5:00pm to Midnight, Saturday from 2:00pm to Midnight and Sunday from 2:00pm to 9:00pm.

Opening Night festivities on Thursday, April 18, begin at 5:30pm with the noisy and fun Bubble Parade marching down La Habra Boulevard, so join the procession, bring you bubble makers and enjoy the huge bubbles from the bubble machines located in the center of the fair. The drum line continues to roll at 6:00pm with a Dance-Off spreading out across the street. Karaoke performances are scheduled after the dance.

Main stage performances scheduled for Friday night, April 19, include the USA Dance Studio Troupe at 5:30pm, Detour 91, the teen blues band who recently opened for BB King at the House of Blues, at 7:00pm with tribute solo act Charlie Overbey doing Neil Diamond hits and headliner The Step Brothers, a classic rock act, taking the stage from 9:00pm to closing.

Saturday highlights, on April 20, on the Main Stage, both back by popular demand, are the graceful and colorful Ballet Folkorico Tierra Flor Y Canto troupe at 3:30pm, followed by a Special Appearance of Radio Disney, AM 1110 in support of My Kids Dentist at 4:15pm. Additional entertainment includes the La Habra City School District Concert Band at 2:00pm, the exciting Sonora Dance and Drill Team at 2:45pm, the Southern rock trio Flashback Cowboys at 5:15pm and the teen pop cover band Pure Atoma at 7:45pm. Fusion Beat concludes the evening performances at 9:00pm. The 2012 OC Weekly Music Awards' People Choice septet classic rock and pop band are sure to bring the house down.

New Attractions are the 'Fabulous Fruit Exhibit' presented by the Historical Museum which pays homage to La Habra's rich agricultural past and the importance of the Citrus Industry in the development of Orange County. From its 1839 land grant status to its 1890s'cash crops of lemons, oranges and avocados, to the introduction of the walnut industry in the 1900's and the establishment of the Citrus Association and marketing under the "Sunkist" label. Did you know that the Hass avocado was developed by grower Rudolph Hass and is now the official tree of the city?

Saturday and Sunday a special Country-themed Craft Fair will introduce visitors to some interesting and unique arts and crafts aspects of what life was life when the community as it grew. It also includes and art contest and other interactive activities for the whole family.

As always Fair Mascots Limon the Lemon, Val the Orange and Hass the Avocado will be on hand for photo ops for kids. Other kid attractions include face painting, clowns, arts and crafts tables and bounce houses.

Thrilling midway rides from Helm & Sons Amusements create enjoyment for all ages. The Century Wheel climbs 80' in the air for a bird eye view of the entire event.

Food Fit for a Fair items include deep fried snacks like Twinkies and Snickers, with BBQ Turkey Legs, bacon-wrapped Corn Dogs, Funnel Cakes, Fresh Fruit and more.

The fair closes on Sunday,April 21 with performances by the La Habra Jazz Ensemble at 2:00pm, the Hart Academy at 3:30; indie pop singer Caitlin Lucia at 4:15 and Son 5 at 5:00pm. The classic and contemporary rock band Legacy goes on at 6:15pm and Latin Salsa Afro Cuban band Orquesta Cortez closes the fairs performances 7:45pm, so bring your dancing shoes.

The 2013 La Habra Spring Citrus Fair is expected to attract over 35,000 people. Proceeds from the event will go to support local organizations that include Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish, the Boys and Girls Clubs, the Abundant Living Church, The Gary Center for psychological counseling and the Imperial Middle School, among others.
