2013 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport Begins Production In Normal, IL

Online, July 24, 2012 (Newswire.com) - The 2013 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport is undergoing some big changes for the upcoming model year! Not only is this small SUV getting updated exterior and interior features, but it is also starting production here in the United States. In mid July, the first American made Outlander Sports rolled off the assembly line at the Mitsubishi plant in Normal, Illinois. Outlander Sports produced at the Normal, IL plant will be shipped to dealerships here in America along with international markets.
While the new model is essentially the same vehicle as before, some revisions to its appearance, along with a few mechanical upgrades, give it a fresh look and feel for 2013. Outside, the 2013 model features a redesigned front grille and fog lamp inserts that provide a cleaner and simpler appearance. The side sills and rear bumper now also match the black front lip for a more complete look. In addition to this, new colors are available and all trim levels now come standard with 18 inch alloy wheels. New fabrics, chrome accents, and technology interfaces spruce up the interior for 2013. For improved handling and acceleration, Mitsubishi has reworked the rear suspension and the continuously-variable transmission. This makes the Outlander Sport a fun drive while also keeping it comfortable on trips.
With production just starting at the Normal, IL plant, we can expect to see the 2013 Outlander Sport available at dealerships like D. Dyer Mitsubishi across the country in August. Mitsubishi also plans to sell the American made Outlander Sports in international markets like Russia and the Gulf Coast countries.
