Mike Dean, President of Yaga's Entertainment, Inc. announced today that the second annual Galveston Island Food & Wine Festival, 2011: Wines From Around The World will return to Galveston Island in April. Though the festival will officially kick off April 14th, a preliminary tasting of this years' wines, by invitation only, will occur March the 15th at the Bienville Social. This event will also feature the top 5 contenders in the 2011 Poster Contest chosen by a panel of established artists including representatives of the Galveston Arts Council and the Galveston Art League. Local and regional artists are encouraged to participate in this competition for a $300 cash prize and the prestige of creating the official poster of the 2011 Galveston Island Food & Wine Festival, Wines From Around The World. The chosen artwork will be on the festival's merchandise and posters, as well as the cover of The Islanders' April edition. Anyone interested in participating in the Poster Contest, please visit our website at www.Galveston.com/FoodandWine.

At evening's close, the selection of wines will be narrowed down to 6 finalists and a victor of the Poster Contest will emerge. The Poster will go on to be the official artwork of the 2011 festival and the 6 wines selected will go on to the kick off event in April where a Grand Champion Wine, red and white, will be crowned by the world renowned Chaine de Rôtisseurs.

The Galveston Island Food & Wine Festival, 2011: Wines From Around The World, officially kicks off Thursday night, April 14th, 2011. A by invitation only Chaine dinner, hosted by Chaine Baillage Jan Pozzi at Rudy & Paco's, will pick the Grand Champion wines for the festival.

Friday the 15th will bring back the popular vintner and restaurant paired dinners from last year. Fine dining restaurants from around Galveston Island will pair up with vintners featured in the festival and offer price fixed dinners. The participating restaurants, wines, and pricing are yet to be announced. Also on Friday evening, stay tuned for details covering the festival's Premium Wine Tasting and Gulf Seafood Showcase.

Saturday, April 16th will be THE GRAND TASTING IN THE PARK. A Wines From Around The World tasting will be held in Saengerfest Park featuring additional culinary aspects along with art vendors and live music. Any artist looking to be a part of the festival, please download our vendor application at www.Galveston.com/FoodandWine .

The final day of the festival, Sunday the 17th, will feature brunches paired with champagnes or wines from the festival. More details on this coming soon.
