41 Habitat-NYC Families to Receive Keys to New Affordable, Eco-Friendly Homes in Ocean Hill-Brownsv

41 low-income New York City families will receive the keys to their new homes in a joyful celebration in Ocean Hill-Brownsville, Brooklyn, on Sat., Sept. 26,

41 hardworking low-income New York City families will receive the keys to their new affordable homes in Ocean Hill-Brownsville, Brooklyn.

In an historic first, Habitat for Humanity - New York City will cut the ribbons on the largest and greenest multifamily complex ever built by a Habitat affiliate anywhere in the world.

This complex of affordable green condos is expected to receive LEED Gold, one of the highest green building ratings.

The new homeowner families, along with about 10,000 volunteers, worked more than two years to help construct these homes.

41 families, who contributed at least 300 hours of "sweat equity" per adult to build their new Habitat-NYC homes, will receive symbolic keys and bless their homes.

Joining them will be volunteers who worked side-by-side to build these homes; funders who provided financial support; and faith leaders; community leaders; and elected officials who made the new homes possible.

VISUALS: Families will be available for photos and interviews. The new homes will be open for blessings and tours.
