4500km Bike Ride - Local Lady Puts Her Big Heart Into Massive Challenge
Online, March 7, 2011 (Newswire.com) - For most of us riding 4500 Kms on a bicycle would take the best part of a lifetime! Brenda Noonan plans to do it in just 42 days. That's over a 100 Km a day across some of the most forbidding and remote terrain in the world - the vast Australian deserts.
The purpose of this huge effort of physical and mental strength and powers of endurance is to raise money for the Australian Heart Foundation.
Every year 50,000 Australians (yes, you read that correctly) die from cardiovascular disease (CDV.) Brenda's "On My Bike" tour aims to draw attention to the seriousness of the problem and to raise funds for the main foundation in the country that is tackling the problem head on.
The long trek begins in Scarborough, Western Australia on March 31st this year and is scheduled to finish on May 10th in Scarborough, Queensland.
Brenda will do the pedaling but you can help with donations by visiting http://www.everydayhero.com.au/brenda_noonan and making a pledge - just click on the "Donate Now' button and follow the instructions.
In Brenda's own words "I have created this page so businesses, friends and family can make donations to the Heart Foundation, while I pedal my way across Australia! As I have lived in both New Zealand and Australia, I have a fund-raising page for each country. You choose!!"
Businesses can offer sponsorship at Brenda's official "On My Bike" tour page, www.brendanoonan-onmybike.com, where you will also find more information on the exact tour itinerary, as well as daily updates and pictures from the ride. A YouTube video is located at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kz2poOHRn1g&feature=channel_video_title
Finally you can follow the tour daily on Brenda's Facebook page http://on.fb.me/4500km-bike-ride
