4PSA Survey Reveals That Service Providers Find Opportunity In SaaS

Seven in ten Communications Service Providers plan on selling SaaS somewhere in the next 24 months

According to a recent survey conducted by UC software company 4PSA, nearly seven in ten (68%) communications service providers plan on selling SaaS somewhere in the next 24 months. The survey also concludes that 55% of service providers involved in the study feel the anxiety of competition from software vendors, on the Software as a Service (SaaS) enterprise market. The survey has been commissioned as part of a research study that will be discussed at WHD.global, the largest hosting event worldwide, in Rust, Germany on April 1-3, 2014.

Bogdan Carstoiu, 4PSA's CEO, will talk about the competition between service providers and software companies and the potential solutions to create a win-win situation.

"What data shows us is that, although service providers need software companies to create innovative services for them to sell, they are very frustrated about direct competition. On the other hand, we know that most software vendors believe that developing solely for service providers limits their perspectives," said Bogdan Carstoiu.

There are currently 10,000 SaaS vendors in the world today (according to GetApp) on a $22.1 billion market by 2015 (according to the latest Gartner reports).

"As a part of Cloud, SaaS looks like just another hot opportunity for brick-and-mortar service providers. However, most software vendors that release a hot app prefer to reach the end-users directly. While service providers can still rely on basic SaaS that brings decent margins, on medium and long term, this new wave of highly specialized service providers poses a significant threat. But there is a winning strategy," Bogdan Carstoiu added.

Bogdan will discuss more about this during a presentation at WHD.global, on April 2nd. For more information about UC-as-a-Service, you can find 4PSA at Booth C10.
