The Social Network: Debut
It's a rarity to have so many leaders of the entertainment industry in one place at one time. What's even more rare is the opportunity for musicians, performers and anyone interested in networking to attend and event where they can network with not only these industry leaders, but with one another as well. But, on Sunday March 13, 2011, all roads lead to the Lounge in Minneapolis for a rare event. The Social Network brings together a host of experts and leaders in their fields and gives local artists the priceless s opportunity to get face time with them as well as the chance to network with other artists.
When asked how D.J Special Dark came up with this event, the answer is simple, "Everyone is someone that can provide a service to assist with the completion of a person/persons goal successfully.".
The purpose of this event is to bring everyone together to create a true network that can benefit parties involved financially, Intellectually & socially at any given time. Similar to being a General contractor knowing someone that needs a job done. The General Contractor may not be able to do it his/herself but know someone that can. Everyone benefits from networking.
The participants in this event where hand-picked by D.J. Special Dark, stating, "The participants were selected due to the service they provide. Each entity can make a positive impact on an artist that will invest the effort & time to allow forward movement to come to fruition."
The participants/supporters include, Special Dark - renowned D.J. (Fleet DJ's / The Specialist) and host of the award-winning "The Session Mixshow" on K.F.A.I Radio, Kandis Knight - Renowned Public Relations Representative of V-Media, Nneka Matimba - The Chief Operating Officer and Artist Branding / Music Consultant of The New Consortium Entertainment Group, David Perez - Lead producer/teacher and Mia Rosner - Lead engneer/teacher of The One Studios/Urban Ventures Community Center, Alaina Karter Perry - President / Talent Agent of Karter Media and Phyr Flyy - D.J. If you wanted one word that describes Special Dark, "RELENTLESS" would be it.
Born in Chicago but raised in sunny California by a sailor. When hours conflicted with parenting, Dark was given the ultimate babysitter, 2 Technics 1800's, a Radio Shack stereo mixer & a microphone. California was where the "Scratch" technique was developed. Moved back to Chicago 1989 for last 2 years of high school were the art of blending was developed, thanks to House Music. In 1996, Dark moved to Minnesota. In 1999, He obtained a radio show (The Session) on K.F.A.I & became not only a force in the Twin Cities Hip-Hop Community but a well known supporter of the artist within it.
Special Darks' DJ & promotional skill was recognized by promoters & artist outside of the Twin Cities which allowed him to work with artist such as, 50 Cent, Sadat X, The Clipse, Tech 9, DJ Envy, DJ Absolute, Roy Jones Jr., Cee-Lo, Twista, Do OR Die, Yukmouth, Devin The Dude, Strong Arm Steady, J Kwon, Project Pat, St. Paul Slim & more.

He named it, "The Session Live." The event was taken very well by the lovers of the Twin Cities Hip Hop community. So much, promoters were compelled to copy it's lay-out.. Even a few of our friends [.] B96 (Otis "The Entertainer" , "Queen B" - Angeli & others) were in the buliding.. 2006 was the year a state wide publication called "The City Pages" voted "The Session Mixx Show" the best Hip-Hop Program.
