A Company of Roses - New Historical Conspiracy Thriller Puts British Women at the Heart of the Story

London, June 30, 2015 (Newswire.com) - New conspiracy novel A Company of Roses, published this week, features Cas, a young woman drawn into a hunt for an Elizabethan treasure that holds the key to a very modern, very dangerous conspiracy.

As she races from Brighton to York, Derbyshire to London, and then heads west, Cas is guided by a riddle that reveals the astonishing tale of a succession of women from British history and the oath they’ve kept for a thousand years.

‘The book was inspired by some of the amazing women in British history who just don’t get the attention they deserve,’ said author Megan Goodenough. ‘And the character who unravels this mystery always had to be a girl. I love historical conspiracy novels, but they often have a rugged hero who gets all the exciting adventures, girls just get to be the sidekick. I wanted to do something a little different.’

Megan is graduate of York University with a degree in archaeology and the book is packed full of esoteric women from British history stretching right back to Saxon archaeological finds and dark ages history. She’s been shortlisted for the Crime Writers’ Association Debut Dagger Award, longlisted for the TS Eliot award and won a BBC Writers’ Room competition. This is her first novel.
