As the weather warms up, Galveston Island fills up with amazing, free events. Visitors and residents are invited to enjoy free movies and live concerts throughout the historic downtown.
Online, March 7, 2013 (Newswire.com) - As the weather warms up, Galveston Island fills up with amazing, free events. Visitors and residents are invited to enjoy free movies and live concerts throughout the historic downtown.
This March, Movie Nite on The Strand starts the season off right for locals and visitors. Movies begin just after dusk at Saengerfest Park, 2302 Strand. Moviegoers are encouraged to stop for a bite to eat at a wide variety of downtown restaurants before setting up a blanket or chair for a free movie under the stars.

April 6 - The Help starring Emma Stone, Viola Davis and Octavia Spencer
May 4 - Dirty Dancing starring Jennifer Grey and Patrick Swayze
June 1 - Jaws starring Richard Dreyfuss, Roy Scheider and Robert Shaw
July 6 - Chicago starring Renee Zellweger and Catherine Zeta-Jones
August 3 - The Muppets starring Jason Segel, Amy Adams and Chris Cooper
September 7 - Superman: The Movie (1978) starring Christopher Reeve, Margot Kidder and Gene Hackman
October 5 - Beetlejuice starring Michael Keaton, Alec Baldwin and Geena Davis
Music enthusiasts looking for a great live music scene will enjoy Music Nite on The Strand which is scheduled on the second and fourth Saturdays of the month. A dance floor and limited seating are provided so crowds can dance to the beat and rest between songs. Bands perform at Saengerfest Park, 2302 Strand, from 6 to 9 p.m. Visitors are encouraged to bring their own seating.

Mitchell Historic Properties is proud to unite with Pier 21 restaurants and attractions to present Party on the Pier. From 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on the third Saturday of the month, Pier 21 will quake with live music and free, family friendly entertainment for visitors and restaurant guests. Galveston's newest live music will include performances by some of Austin's hottest bands from March through October.
