San Diego, CA - Ride with Larry is an inspirational documentary that puts a human face on the day-to-day fight against Parkinson's disease. Larry Smith, a retired police captain, beloved small-town baker, and avid cyclist has had Parkinson's disease for the last 20 years. This spring filmmakers will follow him with cameras as he bikes across his state of South Dakota to raise awareness about the benefits of recumbent cycling and Parkinson's.
Larry refuses to give up or submit to the prognosis of a wheel chair. Instead, he demonstrates the power of keeping your body active and mind positive, proving that sometimes the best cure is living life to its fullest. As Larry's wife Betty states: "if you love life, and have a life that you love, you'll fight for it."
Parkinson's disease affects over a million and a half Americans. This documentary is an intimate portrait of the everyday battle against Parkinson's, the voice therapy, exercise routine, medications, treatments, and the community love that makes it all possible and worthwhile. Donations are currently needed to make this documentary a feature length film.
The Ride with Larry team includes Executive Producer Stephen Nemeth, whose socially conscious documentary credits include War/Dance (2008 Academy Award Nominee - Best Documentary), Flow (screened at both Democratic & Republican Conventions), and Fuel (Audience Award - 2008 Sundance Film Festival).
A film trailer is available and donations can me made online at Kickstarter.com, link: www.kickstarter.com/projects/ridewithlarry/ride-with-larry-a-documentary-film.

Co-Director/Co-Producer Andrew Rubin comments, "This project couldn't happen without contributions from you and it makes a huge difference." Gift giveaways at various donation levels include a two night getaway at the beautiful La Costa Resort and Spa, cycling jerseys, and film credits. Additional prizes will be announced weekly throughout the 60 day campaign in which the filmmakers are pushing to raise $50,000 at kickstarter.com (keyword: ride with larry). Kickstarter is an "all or nothing" site, meaning the full $50,000 must be raised by the end of the funding or all donations will be refunded.
The filmmakers, who have loved ones with Parkinson's, want to help improve the lives of those with Parkinson's disease, family members, and caretakers. Beyond Parkinson's disease, anyone facing a life altering illness can find true inspiration in Ride with Larry.
