A Successful Start for Watertech Expo and Conference 2013
Online, October 1, 2013 (Newswire.com) - Organised for the first time by Messe Frankfurt, Watertech Expo and Conference 2013, a trade and networking event dedicated to the water and wastewater treatment industry, enjoyed a successful first day. Exhibitors from across India displayed a wide range of products, services and technologies suited to the Indian market. Under new organisation, Watertech 2013 received much support from the government and several key industry associations. This was notably reflected in the amount of association support and the number of dignitaries and professionals visiting the event. Watertech 2013 also featured the Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation Pavilion, representing water supply and sanitation programmes of 18 participating states and union territories in India.
Opening the Inauguration Ceremony, Mr Raj Manek, Managing Director, Messe Frankfurt Trade Fairs India stated, "It is our sincere hope that trough Watertech 2013 we have made an important step towards Messe Frankfurt's international development of the environmental technology sector and to bring relevant products, technology and expertise to alleviate the country's water and sanitation crisis."
Shri Bharatsinh Solanki, Minister of State (I/C), Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation, Government of India in his opening address warned that India's water scarcity is only expected to worsen as the country's overall population grows. He said, "I congratulate Messe Frankfurt for organising Watertech 2013 as a national level exhibition and conference on water and wastewater treatment and management. I sincerely hope that all deliberations and ideas exchanged here helps in a movement towards ensuring efficient, sustainable water supply for all"

The highlight of Watertech 2013 was the launch of the 'Solar Energy
Based Dual Pump Piped Water Supply Scheme' by the Ministry of
Drinking Water and Sanitation. Designed and developed by the Directorate of Groundwater Surveys and Development Agency (GDSA), 2,652 such schemes that have been implemented in the last three years supply piped water to 6.63 lakh people in hilly, tribal, and far flung habitations. In the future 10,000 such schemes will be implemented in 9 naxal affected areas on a pilot basis followed by country-wide implementation.

The Watertech Conference, which has acquired much industry attention, will be held from 27 to 28 September 2013. Speakers will highlight the economic incentives to reduce water damage caused by pollution and how in many ways, wastewater can be a useful resource. The trade fair is open to trade visitors from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm at the Mahatma Gandhi Mandir in Gandhinagar, Gujarat.
