AbiliTrek Launches New Service for Travelers With Disabilities
BELLINGHAM, Wash., October 2, 2017 (Newswire.com) - AbiliTrek launched AbiliCheck, its newest service which verifies that a hotel room booked on the website meets an individual’s specific accessibility needs.
When an AbiliTrek user books a hotel room, a member of the AbiliTrek team will contact the hotel to verify that the user’s needs can be met. Twenty-seven different accessibility options are available to be checked off by a user, along with any special requests. AbiliCheck uses this information to check directly with the hotel, then reports its findings with the user.
There is so much mislabeling from hotel websites about the kind of accessibility that they offer, so we feel this feature is essential. At AbiliTrek, our mission is to empower those with disabilities to trek without boundaries. We believe AbiliCheck gets us one step closer to achieving our mission.

AbiliTrek CEO Daman Wandke said he struggled to call and confirm that a hotel could accommodate him due to his speech impairment. However, he recognized the need to confirm with real people that his needs could be met.
“There is so much mislabeling from hotel websites about the kind of accessibility that they offer, so we feel this feature is essential,” Wandke said. “At AbiliTrek, our mission is to empower those with disabilities to trek without boundaries. We believe AbiliCheck gets us one step closer to achieving our mission.”
This service is available to anyone who creates an account with AbiliTrek and identifies their accessibility needs.
