Accomplished Actress & Comedienne To Host Charity Event Produced By Lady ZjaZja Events, LLC

Online, June 21, 2011 (Newswire.com) - Lady Zja Zja Events, LLC, the promoters of The Annual Adult Prom Extravaganza, announced that its 3rd Annual Adult Prom Extravaganza will be held on Saturday, August 27, 2011.

Lady Zja Zja Events also announced that Cocoa Brown, a comedienne and actress, will be the host and headline performer for the event. "We're honored to have such an accomplished actress and sought after comedienne entertain us for the evening. This promises to be an unforgettable night," stated Shemi Edwards, the President of Lady ZjaZja Events. Cocoa Brown has appeared in numerous films including "Lakeview Terrace" with Samuel L. Jackson and "American Carol" with Kelsey Grammar; she also has performed in front of a variety of audiences including The Kennedy Center Honors Richard Pryor, Def Comedy Jam Tour, and has nine consecutive seasons on BET's Comic View, twice being voted "Funniest Female"

"The theme for this year's extravaganza will be 'An Evening with Meaning'," said Mrs. Edwards. "We are donating a portion of revenues from the 3rd Annual Adult Prom Extravaganza to Living Beyond Breast Cancer, a local non-profit dedicated to assisting all affected by the disease, live as long as possible with the best quality of life. Breast cancer has not only touched my family but the families of many of our guest. My team and I felt that one way to share our success with others was to give what we could to further the work done by Dr. Marisa C. Weiss and Living Beyond Breast Cancer [LBBC]."

LBBC was founded in 1991 by radiation oncologist Marisa C. Weiss, MD, in response to a woman's need for breast-cancer-related information, connection, and support after completing treatment. In its early years, Dr. Weiss ran LBBC out of the third floor of her home using volunteers. Today, LBBC has expanded to assist women at all stages of diagnosis, treatment and recovery. Their mission includes offering specialized programs and services for the newly diagnosed, young women, women with advanced breast cancer, women at high risk for developing the disease, and African-American and Latina women.

Lady Zja Zja Events has been fortunate to see success with the Annual Adult Prom. Since 2009, its first year hosting this extravaganza, the company has experienced growth both in attendance and quality. The first prom was hosted by Philadelphia native Mr. TuRae Gordon. The urban comedy magazine Humor Mill voted TuRae as one of the Top Comedians of 2009 and also described TuRae's performance on the 2008 season of HBO's Def Comedy Jam as one of the funniest of the season.
