ACG Boston Announces New Board Members

The Boston Chapter of the Association for Corporate Growth announced four new board members: Robert Emmert, McCarthy Capital; Natasha Fox, Avante Mezzanine Partners; Spencer Macalaster, Risk Strategies Company; and Josef Volman, Burns & Levinson LLP

ACG Boston, the Boston Chapter of the Association for Corporate Growth (ACG), announced four new board members: Robert Emmert, McCarthy Capital; Natasha Fox, Avante Mezzanine Partners; Spencer Macalaster, Risk Strategies Company; and Josef Volman, Burns & Levinson LLP.

Background - New 2012 ACG Boston Board Members

Robert Emmert is a Managing Partner with McCarthy Capital. Mr. Emmert manages McCarthy Capital's Boston Office. Prior to joining McCarthy Capital, Mr. Emmert was a General Partner with Alta Communications, a media and telecommunications focused private equity firm based in Boston. He has also worked in the Investment Banking division of DB Alex. Brown and the Corporate Finance division of Brown Brothers Harriman & Co. where he evaluated investment opportunities for the 1818 Fund, a private equity partnership. Mr. Emmert also assists with existing portfolio management where he serves on the board of directors of NRG Media LLC and Advantor Systems LLC. Mr. Emmert graduated from Georgetown University with a BS in Finance.

Natasha Fox is a Partner of Avante Mezzanine Partners. Ms. Fox has 12 years of finance experience, including 10 years of middle-market principal investment experience. Prior to Avante, Ms. Fox led the San Francisco office of American Capital, where she successfully launched and grew the firm's mezzanine practice, recruited and managed a team of eight investment professionals, and built and oversaw a $650 million portfolio of mezzanine debt and minority equity investments. While at American Capital, Ms. Fox invested a total of $850 million of debt and equity capital in 18 platform transactions, including both mezzanine debt and control equity deals. Prior to American Capital, Ms. Fox spent two years in investment banking at Merrill Lynch in New York. She graduated with High Honors from the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley, with a B.S. degree in Business Administration (with concentration in Finance).

Spencer Macalaster is an Executive Vice President with Risk Strategies Company in Boston. Since joining RSC in 2006 Spencer took an interest in their M&A business practice. As part of being a trusted risk management advisor to his clients, Spencer took the time to learn about RSC's talent and success with M&A. Spencer is responsible for the design and implementation of risk management to national and global corporations. His expertise extends to private equity portfolio companies, real estate, technology, construction, and professional liability. Spencer has been responsible for developing and implementing risk management programs for medium to large corporations. His clients require national risk management experience, combined with aggressive and proactive involvement. Spencer has established himself as a leader in the design and management of Risk Strategies largest corporate relationships.

Josef Volman is a Partner and Co-Chair of the Business Law, Life Sciences and Securities Law groups at Burns & Levinson LLP. He focuses his practice on the representation of entrepreneurs, start-up and emerging companies, private equity and venture funds, investors, public companies and investment banking firms in the Technology and Life Sciences, Media and Entertainment, Sports and Hospitality industries. He has significant experience in public offerings, securities compliance, buying and selling private and public companies, venture financings, fund formation and a variety of early and late stage private and public equity and debt financing transactions. Joe also has significant international experience, including numerous cross-border transactions involving Canadian companies.
