Achieve Greater Career Heights With WOU's Qualifications

Wawasan Open University (WOU) offers quality and affordable part-time programmes for career advancement.

Wawasan Open University (WOU), a reputable institution of higher learning in Open Distance Learning (ODL) has taken up the challenge to provide industry-relevant programmes to working professionals who are hungering for high quality, affordable and flexible tertiary education.

The University is dedicated towards equipping the Malaysian workforce with the right credentials and knowledge, offering more than 30 undergraduate programmes in diverse areas of specialisation.

Maizatul Akma Bt Ahmad, 37, a Senior Accounts Executive, is pursuing her Bachelor of Business (Hons) in Accounting (BBAC), a programme that fits into her professional needs.

“The BBAC programme would be an investment for my future, perhaps a promotion.  But the most important thing is the self satisfaction where I can improve my accounting knowledge and strengthen my level of confidence,” she said.

Maizatul, who holds a Diploma in Accounting, added that she will be able to understand and cope with her BBAC studies at WOU quite easily as most of the courses are related to her real-life work situation.

“WOU provides study facilities and I will make use of my weekend at WOU as I can’t study at home with my kids around,” said Maizatul, who enrolled for studies with WOU recently through Bandar Utama Regional Support Centre.

Dasaini Devi Balan, who newly enrolled for the Bachelor of Management (Hons) with Psychology (BMPS) is grateful with the opportunity provided by WOU.

“BMPS is a unique programme as it involves the combination of business management with psychology which equips me the knowledge I need to work in both departments,” said Dasaini Devi, a Human Resource and Administration Assistant from Johor Bahru.

The flexibility and accessibility of ODL suits adult learners.  They can still keep their jobs while pursuing their studies at WOU.  They are able to learn at their own pace, wherever and whenever they wish.

“As a part-time student, the ODL method is just perfect for me. I don’t have to pressure myself to attend classes when I’m tied down with work.  I can plan my schedule without disrupting my work obligations as classes are conducted on Saturday and Sunday.  WOU provides me the platform to upgrade myself and help me to climb the corporate ladder,” explained Dasaini Devi.

Come check out WOU’s wide range of Bachelor’s degree programmes.   The areas of specialisation include accounting, management, banking & finance, sales & marketing, human resource management, electronics, construction management, psychology, English Studies and education.

WOU, being a people’s university, has gone the extra mile to ease the financial burden of prospective students by providing the Return to Study Allowance (RTSA), which grants students a fee rebate of up to RM400. In addition, all new undergraduate students are eligible to receive study grant up to RM600 (Terms and conditions apply).  For interested candidates, the part-time study April 2016 intake is ongoing.  Act now to enrol before promotion ends!
