Achim Quinke Resigns as Managing Director of Gamecity:Hamburg
Online, July 17, 2013 (Newswire.com) - During his tenure, gamecity:Hamburg evolved into Germany's most extensive games industry network with more than 2,000 active members. Achim Quinke is resigning from his honorary office by his own request, to allow him to focus fully on expanding his own PR agency, Quinke Networks, and the firm's job portal, Games-Career.com (http://www.games-career.com/).
Carsten Brosda, head of the State Chancellery's Media Bureau of the State of Hamburg: "Achim Quinke pioneered the business development activities in the games sector, and has thus played a pivotal role in strengthening Hamburg as a media location. I am truly grateful for his commitment and hope that he will continue contributing his invaluable expertise to the Initiative in the years to come."
As early as 2003, Achim Quinke's university thesis provided the initial stimulus for launching gamecity:Hamburg. Together with Stefan Klein from the Initiative Hamburg@work, he implemented the gamecity:Hamburg project which subsequently proved instrumental in making Hamburg the No.1 games industry location in Europe. Quinke was responsible for many of gamecity:Hamburg's projects. Apart from defining the initiative's strategic approach, this included event coordination and trade show appearances, the conceptual design of the business incubator, Gamecity Port, continuous start-up consultancy, and a worldwide communication drive to promote the brand, gamecity:Hamburg.
Achim Quinke on taking his leave: "I would like to thank the local industry and my comrade-in-arms, Stefan Klein, as well as Jens Unrau from the State Chancellery, whose tireless efforts have led gamecity:Hamburg to success. I am certain that they will be able to defend Hamburg's lead in the future."
Stefan Klein assumes sole project responsibility with immediate effect. Jens Unrau from the State Chancellery's Media Bureau will continue to act as project coordinator. Yesterday's Gamecity Sommertreff, attended by more than 300 games industry representatives, marked Achim Quinke's official farewell.
