ACHS Graduate Lisa Powell Awarded National Association of Nutrition Professionals 2016 Community Award

The American College of Healthcare Sciences (ACHS.edu) announces that Master of Science in Complementary Alternative Medicine graduate Lisa Powell has been awarded the National Association of Nutrition Professionals' (NANP) 2016 Community Award. This award recognizes Powell's innovative efforts to make a difference in the health of our nation.

“I am very privileged and honored to receive the 2016 NANP Community Award! We live in age where we have profound disruptions and the need for community is stronger than ever! It’s so important that we can shift into a deeper consciousness so further care and actions can be incorporated into our lives and the world around us,” Powell says.

Powell owns Yabbaganics, LLC—a holistic health business focusing on education, mind-body nutrition, and consultation—and serves as Chapter President of the Holistic Chamber of Commerce in Portland, Oregon. Powell is also a guest on blogs and radio shows, and works directly with health practitioners educating on critical industry standards and ethics of practice including professional-grade supplements, holistic nutrition, private labeling, and branding.

“My award is truly a shared award as I couldn’t have received this award without the community that I have aligned with, such as ACHS, NANP, Holistic Chamber of Commerce®, and Designs for Health®. Together I am able to integrate joint actions, awareness, and shared perspectives, which help to create a foundation for community,” Powell says.

Before founding Yabbaganics, Powell worked in investment banking for more than a decade. She also formerly owned a Japanese natural products company serving local hospitals, colleges, and natural foods grocery stores.

“Lisa goes above and beyond to be of service to our holistic health community,” says Dorene Petersen, ACHS president and founder. “I’m delighted she’s been recognized by her peers and NANP for her dedication to fostering community and her passion for holistic nutrition and health and wellness. I know she will continue to be a positive force for change, and I’m excited for everyone who has the opportunity to learn from her.”

NANP Community Award recipients are peer nominated for their efforts to make a positive contribution to health and wellness. Nominations are accepted and awarded year-round. Everyone is eligible. For more information, visit http://www.nanpconference.com/nanp-awards.html
