Aciont® to Present at ARVO 2011 Annual Meeting
Aciont's poster "Importance of the Conjunctiva in Transscleral Iontophoresis" will be shown on May 3, 2011 at the meeting.
Online, April 26, 2011 (Newswire.com) - Aciont Inc. announced today that the company will present findings on the ocular iontophoresis of macromolecules at the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO) Annual Meeting in Fort Lauderdale, FL. Iontophoresis is a minimally invasive means to deliver drugs through tissue using a mild electrical current. "A number of research publications (in the transscleral iontophoresis area) are focusing on scleral tissue. This study reveals the importance of conjunctiva in ocular drug delivery, particularly when attempting to use in vitro results to predict the outcome of in vivo transscleral iontophoresis," said Dr. Kongnara Papangkorn, Aciont's Director of Research.
The lead author of the presentation is Dr. Sarah A. Molokhia who works with the John A. Moran Eye Center at The University of Utah. The poster A497 is titled "Importance of the Conjunctiva in Transscleral Iontophoresis," and can be viewed on Tuesday May 3, 2011 from 1:45 - 3:30PM in Hall B/C at the Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention Center. Aciont personnel will be in attendance at the ARVO meeting to respond to questions regarding Aciont's work.
