ACTION for Conflict Transformation adopts PPM for African Peace Projects

SharkPro Projects enables team collaboration and visibility to management and sponsors

Washington, D.C. - While exhibiting at the PMI Global Congress, SharkPro Software Corporation demonstrated how the ACTION Support Centre will be using SharkPro Projects for team collaboration and management of conflict resolution and development projects throughout Africa.

"Our project teams are often on the road, so face-to-face collaboration and status meetings are rare," said Richard Smith, Technical Advisor to the ACTION Joint Management. "At the same time, our supporters and donors want realistic updates on how the project is meeting stated objectives. The project stays alive - it's not just a document you do at the beginning and then you come back to at the end to see if you did it. SharkPro Projects gives us a brilliant way to track the project from initial grant document to final report."

ACTION is a global network of individuals and organizations working with communities to transform conflict and build a world of justice and peace where basic needs are met and human rights and dignity are respected. The ACTION Support Centre is the regional hub managing ACTION programs in Africa:
* The Peace and Development Platform (PAD) enables grassroots issues and concerns relating to peace and human security to be articulated through research, training and direct lobbying.
* The Skills and Strategies for Change (SSC) program includes the Community Strengthening Program for building the capacity of communities for resolving conflict and the Youth Program for promoting the importance of human rights and good citizenship.
* The Solidarity and Transformation Agenda (STA) program is a broad initiative which includes the Zimbabwe Solidarity Forum in South Africa and some components of advocacy and lobbying, networking and mobilization, and research.

"It's an amazingly interactive way of doing the project," said Sandisiwe Qweni, Project Manager at the ACTION Support Centre. "It keeps people focused on their tasks, and it makes getting the work done really positive."

"It's kind of exciting because people can talk to each other about the project," said Jessica Meyer, an ACTION team member. "Whether I'm in the Johannesburg office or an internet cafe in Limpopo, I can update my tasks, make requests, and see how everyone else is doing."
