Addition of Computerized Tomography (CT) Means Exceptionally Efficient Patient Treatment

The Illinois Bone & Joint Institute (IBJI) announces the addition of a Computerized Tomography (CT) Scanner at the Des Plaines office. This brings to patients full diagnostic services without the hassle of traveling to another location.

The Illinois Bone and Joint Institute, Chicago's leading provider of orthopedic care and diagnostic imaging, announces the addition of Computerized Tomography (CT) Scanning to the list of diagnostic services available at the Des Plaines location.

Computerized Tomography, also called CT or "CAT" scans, has been an anchor in diagnostic testing for orthopedic physicians around the world. A CT scan is used to help diagnose kidney stones; pelvic masses; cancers; vascular diseases; ear, nose, and throat ailments, and bone injuries and conditions. CT scans can also be specifically catered to children's needs, as well as for patients with pacemakers, implants, and prosthetics.

Some orthopedic conditions, like a simple break of the arm or leg, are easily diagnosed with a traditional x-ray, which offers a "top down" view of the musculoskeletal system. Other bone injuries are more difficult to diagnose. The CT scan provides cross-sectional images of the area of the body examined for a more complete view of the condition or injury. Regions of a patient's internal body can be captured in "slices" of various widths, and can even be reconstructed 3-dimensionally.

"Our goal at IBJI has always been to offer the best, most comprehensive integrated musculoskeletal care to the residents of the greater Chicagoland area," says Thomas Nagelli, Director of IBJI MRI Services. "The addition of the CT scan at the Des Plaines location provides greater ability to accurately diagnose and treat our patients without requiring the lag in scheduling a diagnostic test at a hospital or third-party diagnostics provider."

Des Plaines is now accepting appointments for CT scans, as well as MRI and other diagnostic services, including CT or MR Arthrograms. Contact the Des Plaines MRI office at 855-IBJI-MRI for additional information about insurances accepted and appointments available.

With over 90 orthopedic physicians specializing in over 25 clinical areas, the Illinois Bone and Joint Institute (IBJI) is the leading provider of orthopedic, rheumatologic, or podiatric services in the Chicago-land area.
