Adelphi University Launches a 14-month Accelerated Second Degree B.S. Nursing Program
Online, September 23, 2010 (Newswire.com) - The Adelphi University School of Nursing is proud to offer a 14-month accelerated second degree B.S. nursing program called PATH (Professional Acceleration to Healthcare) designed for motivated women and men interested in switching careers to a rewarding new experience in nursing. The first cohort will begin in late May 2011 at the Garden City campus. Individuals must hold a bachelor's degree in any field to qualify for entry into the accelerated program.
"PATH provides a career change opportunity to dynamic and motivated adult learners who want to become registered nurses," said Andrea McCrink, EdD, RN, director of the PATH program and assistant professor of nursing at Adelphi University. "Our program uses a cohort model which results in camaraderie, group learning, and strong social bonds among the students in the program. Additionally, the cohort model allows students to closely collaborate with each other and their professors thereby creating a supportive learning environment."
Adelphi's distinctive and selective PATH program recognizes and respects student's past experiences and builds on those strengths. Individuals who hold a bachelor's degree in a field other than nursing, can take advantage of the opportunity to pursue a 60 credit B.S. in nursing in just 14 months of full-time study. Students are expected to have completed prerequisite courses in areas such as science, statistics, and developmental psychology for admission to the PATH program.
Upon completion of Adelphi's PATH program, students are eligible to take the national NCLEX-RN exam. The B.S. degree from the accredited nursing program at Adelphi University, along with its first-rate faculty and clinical practice settings, gives graduates significant employment flexibility in a variety of heatlh care settings.
