Adoption Choices Offers Financial Aid Scholarships To Caring Adoptive Parents Of Modest Means

Fran Goss Fund Provides Assistance with Adoption Fees to Qualified Parents, Couples and Families Hoping to Adopt a Baby

Adoption Choices and JFS of Metrowest are pleased to offer financial aid scholarships to qualified adoptive parents, couples and families through the Fran Goss Adoption Fund. Thanks to the generosity of private donors, the Fund provides fee reduction assistance to families of modest means who would otherwise be unable to adopt.

The Fund is named in honor of Fran Goss who along with her husband Terry were foster parents for the Adoption Choices program for nearly twenty years.  During that time, they opened their Metrowest home to many babies who were in transition from their birth parents to their adoptive family.  As an adopted person herself, Fran found special significance in caring for these children.  Fran, Terry and their two children provided the babies with wonderful physical care and unconditional love.  Fran had an especially warm place in her heart for babies with special medical needs.  Fran passed away in 2011 and the Fund serves as a fitting legacy and tribute to an exceptional woman who is missed by many.

Those interested in adopting and would like to apply for financial aid may start the process by contacting Adoption Choices and speaking with the program’s Coordinator, Dale Eldridge, LICSW, BCD.  The initial consultation is free.  Applicants are assessed for adoptive suitability and fee reduction eligibility is determined using a sliding fee scale.  Those approved for financial aid may qualify for up to 90% of agency-related fees.

“Adoption Choices has been building families since 1982, and too often we speak with loving would-be parents that simply cannot afford the costs involved with adopting a baby,” said Ms. Eldridge.  “With the assistance of the Fran Goss Fund, in recent months we have been able to help a teacher, a day care provider and a therapist - all single women - embark on the journey of adoption.  We are grateful for the generous support of our donors, and welcome the opportunity to speak with hopeful parents who would like to learn their options and understand the process of adopting a baby.”

For over thirty years, Adoption Choices (a program of JFS of Metrowest) has been helping birth and adoptive parents understand their options so they can make informed decisions that best meet their needs.  Adoption Choices is a licensed, non-profit, non-sectarian program that provides a wide range of adoption services to individuals, couples and families throughout Massachusetts.  We work with prospective adoptive parents from all backgrounds and have extensive experience in domestic and international adoption, as well as experience in interracial, LGBTQ and special needs adoptions.
