Online, October 19, 2011 (Newswire.com) - On Wednesday 26th October 2011, in the run up to National Adoption Week the family department of Osbornes Solicitors, in conjunction with national charity Adoption UK are holding a topical debate and question time on the future of adoption.
Attending the event as panel members will be:
Martin Narey, Government Adoption Advisor; The Right Honourable Lord Justice McFarlane; Jonathan Pearce, CEO Adoption UK; Jeanne Kaniuk, Head of Adoption and Permanence Families Services at Coram; Naomi Angell, Children's Solicitor at Osbornes; Maswood Ahmed, Independent Social Worker Consultant; Ben Douglas, Adoptee and Helen Oakwater, Adoptive Parent and Author.
Adjudicating the event is Rosemary Bennett, Social Affairs Correspondent at The Times Newspaper, which has been campaigning for sweeping reforms to the adoption system.
The event was inspired by the level of press coverage adoption has received throughout 2011, including the reporting on the new Government guidelines on adoption, aimed at increasing the numbers of children adopted from care.
Naomi Angell, panel member and Adoption Specialists at Osbornes comments:
"We could not have assembled a better panel for the debate, all individuals on the panel bring with them their own experiences of adoption and this will make for a fascinating debate. The aim of the event is to talk about the future and see what changes and improvements can be made to the current adoption system".
Also aIn attendance will be over 200 delegates representing the whole of the "adoption world", including guardians, social workers, judges, solicitors, barristers, charities and those who have first had experience of being in the adoption system.
