Adrienne N. Congleton Achieves Significant Milestone as Toastmaster
Toastmasters International announced today that Adrienne N. Congleton has achieved Competent Communicator.
Online, June 5, 2011 (Newswire.com) - Toastmasters International announced today that Adrienne N. Congleton has achieved Competent Communicator.
"Becoming a Competent Communicator is a great achievement in public speaking," said Lisa Pantano, DTM, Lieutenant Governor of Education and Training, for Toastmasters District 83 (http://toastmasters83.org/). "It requires a certain level of mastery of both communication and leadership skills. Adrienne can really be proud of this accomplishment."
After completing the ten Competent Communication projects, a member is entitled to the Competent Communicator award, and may add the post-nominal CC to their name for Toastmasters purposes. After achieving their CC, the Toastmaster then can go on to more advanced projects. There are 15 advanced manuals in the Toastmasters program, each consisting of five projects. These include projects on sales presentations, speaking to inform, speeches by management, interpretative reading, speaking on television, entertaining dinner speaking, communicating with news media, interpersonal communication, and others.
Club president Gints Gulbis presented Adrienne with a special pin to recognize the milestone. Ms. Congleton joined Toastmasters in 2003 and belongs to Toastmaster Club of Union.
"I was always a very shy and introverted person," said Congleton. "After reading Feel the Fear and Do It Anyway, by Susan Jeffers, Ph.D. and other books on the subject of shyness and fear, I realized that I could develop the skill of speaking in front of groups. That's when the light-bulb went off in my head, to join Toastmasters. Becoming a member of Toastmasters and following its step-by-step system, helped me to achieve this first rung on the ladder of skills in competent communication. Being in this organization has increased my self-esteem and my self-confidence both in my career and personal life. I am still shy, but I now know how to handle it. This is a tremendous organization, and I will forever be grateful."
