ADS to Distribute Black Diamond's Wearable Computer and Communications System for Dismounted C4ISR

ADS to distribute Black Diamond's new wearable C4ISR computer system, which allows operators to transition in seconds from computer operation to combat engagement while walking. Customers can preview the MTS at Warrior Expo East beginning July 14.

Black Diamond Advanced Technology has established ADS Inc., the leading tactical operational equipment solutions provider for defense and homeland security, as a distributor for its Modular Tactical System (MTS).

In addition to purchasing directly from the ADS catalog, customers from the DOD and other federal agencies can see a demonstration of the lightweight and rugged wearable computer system that optimizes dismounted C4ISR at ADS's Warrior Expo East on Thursday, July 14 and Friday, July 15 in Virginia Beach, Va. Black Diamond Advanced Technology will be in booth #187.

Black Diamond Advanced Technology's MTS is different from other wearable computer systems because it deconstructs the computer to integrate fully into a warfighter's uniform, while occupying virtually no usable PALS webbing needed for other equipment. Furthermore, the MTS is more than a computer as it integrates tactical communications, surveillance and visual augmentation systems into one common, scalable hardware platform.

The ultra-rugged MTS allows a warfighter to transition from computer operation to direct combat engagement in seconds with a wearable system that is incorporated into a compact plate carrier system, without compromising any of the certified ballistics protection. A warfighter never needs to stop, put down gear and lose time in a stationary position while powering up or repacking equipment.

In the vest-based configuration, a small, low-profile Tactical Mission Controller - containing processing, peripheral control, and power management functions - is carried on the back, while a flip-down pocket on the front of the vest allows quick access to a 6.5-inch sunlight-and NVG-viewable display. All cables are routed through an interchangeable cummerbund that integrates body armor, is secured to plate-carriers, and provides non-obtrusive access to I/O ports. The MTS can also be employed in bag or vehicle configurations.

Because it can control multiple mission-critical peripherals and acts as a power manager for these peripherals, the MTS can eliminate redundant displays and power sources, reducing the amount of gear the user carries. Power can be sourced from most fielded batteries, as well as from vehicles and alternative energy sources.

Warrior Expo includes equipment exhibits for customers; military; federal, state and local government agencies; law enforcement; and first responders to preview the latest operational equipment from industry-leading manufacturers and participate in seminars and breakout sessions addressing safety, survivability and much more. This year, Warrior Expo East will also feature a keynote by General Stanley McChrystal, Former Commander of U.S. and International Forces in Afghanistan.
