Adventure Life Reviews First Micro-Grant Recipient of 2011 Cusco's Mantay Shelter

Adventure Life reviews ongoing grant program that provides funding for small, grassroots projects throughout Latin America.

The award-winning travel company Adventure Life has selected its first micro-grant recipient of 2011, the Mantay Shelter, in Cusco, Peru. The shelter supplies young single mothers with a safe environment where they are counseled, educated, and given technical training. Currently, the Mantay Shelter is the only place in Cusco that gives young mothers the opportunity to take on and develop their role as providers, while simultaneously embracing their adolescence. "We are thrilled to be able to give back to the communities we visit," said Adventure Life Operations Director Jonathan Brunger. "Our mission as a company is to have a positive impact on the local culture, environment and economy, and the grant program is just another way to make this goal a reality."

Adventure Life's ongoing grant program provides funding for small, grassroots projects throughout Latin America. Adventure Life grants have funded reforestation and home restoration projects in the Andes; a conservation-focused bird-watching festival for youth from poor villages in Peru; a Christmas fiesta at an orphanage in Costa Rica; a new water pump for a community near Machu Picchu whose traditional irrigation system was destroyed by floods; a children's community art festival in Guatemala; and sinks, electric connections, water pipes, and safety equipment for a new science lab in rural Ecuador. The grant program is one of the proudest accomplishments of Adventure Life. Review more information about the company on its Facebook page www.facebook.com/adventurelife or call 1-800-344-6118.
