Affiliate Service Provider Affitown Partners With Spider Labs, Ltd. to Combat Reward Points Fraud

Spider Lab's AI-Driven "Spider AF" Tool can Identify and Stop Fraudsters in Real-Time With One Click and a Single Conversion

Tokyo-based Spider Labs, Ltd., developer of Spider AF anti-advertising fraud software, has been selected by Japan’s Affitown affiliate service provider to combat reward points fraud, the first time the tool has been applied in this way. Spider Labs’ AI-driven countermeasure tool can detect fraudulent clicks and conversions in real-time before the affiliate pays out. Affitown, an affiliate service provider owned and operated by Tokyo-based GMO Media Co., Ltd., will deploy Spider AF to guard its reward points media platform. Spider Labs is the first and only Asian-based vendor certified by the international Trustworthy Accountability Group (TAG) and also adheres to the guidelines set by the U.S.-based Media Rating Council (MRC).

Online ad fraud is the corrupt practice of stealing advertising funds by creating the appearance of human interaction and impressions of online ads. The techniques constantly become more sophisticated requiring constantly improving technology to fight and include methods such as Click Flooding, Install Hijacking, Invalid Traffic and Click Farms. Spider AF detects ad fraud by analyzing data logs for impressions, clicks, and conversions. Real-time fraud management utilizes a simple integration, allowing Spider AF to communicate directly with networks to disable fraudulent devices and IPs that fall outside of the set rules.

“Affitown began testing the Spider Lab’s system in January, specifically for our reward points clients,” said Koujiro Sato, General Manager, Sales Planning Department, GMO Media. “All the data collected proves that Spider AF is very effective at stopping the unauthorized collection of points. We are encouraged by the results and will continue to use Spider AF as our primary weapon against fraud.”

“Fraud against reward point sites is not unlike general advertising fraud,” said Kazuhiro Miyamoto, Spider Labs Product Manager. “For the first time, we were able to offer GMO Media our newly developed, real-time fraud detection system as a reward points application. We hope this initiative will contribute to improving the health and transparency of the entire online advertising industry.”
