Bishop Ogbu’s mission is to reach out to ministers of the gospel in Africa and those of African descent to uphold Christian values and improve the lot of African peoples everywhere. Enlightening congregations of their rights and responsibilities as laid out in the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights is an essential element in accomplishing these goals.

“Most people do not even know their rights, why they are being violated,” says Bishop Ogbu. “The laws have been enacted, but most of these laws have not bePress Releasesen applied or been implemented.”

Before the conference began, the ministers visited Mandela House and immersed themselves in the life and accomplishments of the beloved former South Africa president whose dedication to human rights paved the way to the South Africa becoming the "rainbow nation."

Conference attendees were then introduced to the full array of materials of the Youth for Human Rights educational initiative and learned how to educate groups on the Universal Declaration of Human Rights using the booklets, public service announcements and documentary that are part of the program.

The Church of Scientology supports Youth for Human Rights. Scientologists on six continents engage in collaborative efforts with government agencies and nongovernmental organizations to bring about broad-scale awareness and implementation of the 1948 United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the world’s premier human rights document.
