Women leaders and aspiring leaders are invited to take part in this one-day event. Attendees will hear leading Canadian Women professional speakers that will inspire and empower the future generation of women leaders, advocates and entrepreneurs.
Created by Ms. Stevens this one-day event is not only designed for women to be inspired by high profile mentors, but also to enable women to connect with each other and work together ultimately resulting in social and economic change for African communities and countries. The objective of the conference is to raise funds to build the Leah Ngini Community Centre at the Africa International University (AIU) in Nairobi, Kenya and provide scholarships to prospective women leaders.
"The biggest problem in Africa today is not AIDS, poverty, disease, education, or urbanization; the biggest problem is LEADERSHIP. When moral leaders with integrity and justice arise, then Africa's problems will be solved", said Dr. Douglas Carew, Vice Chancellor of the Africa International University.
This conference was create to respond to the call to investing in African leaders. This is one of the rare fundraising initiative that will assist Africa in creating women leaders, the proclaimed change agents of Africa.
Suzanne explains, "The Ignite Excellence conference is an opportunity for women of all backgrounds from all professions to network, listen to world class speakers, share ideas, and contribute to this worthy cause. There are so many women in Africa who don't have a voice and the IE Conference is one way of trying to redress the balance. When these women are educated they not only open doors for themselves but provide a trickledown effect for the entire community. When women join forces in this way, we are truly an unstoppable force for change."
Sponsors that support this event will be rest assured that 100% of the proceeds will be donated to building the centre focusing on the plethora of women's issues while providing a place to continue their post graduate education; as well as provide scholarships to prospective women leaders.
Attendees will enjoy a full day of speakers, networking, a silent auction, stock market challenge and the Gospel sounds of the Toronto Mass Choir. All Proceeds from ticket sales and sponsorship will benefit the Ignite Excellence Foundation. The seminar takes place Monday November 22nd. 2010.
