After 1 Year, Dr. Robert J. Winn Goes Full Time With Real Wellness Practice
COLLINGSWOOD, N.J., March 3, 2020 (Newswire.com) - One year after opening his private practice, Real Wellness, in Collingswood, Dr. Robert J. Winn is now going full time.
Upon opening his solo private practice, Dr. Winn began taking on all aspects of his patients’ care. While most doctors only concern themselves with the direct care of their patients, Dr. Robert Winn goes above and beyond. At Real Wellness, Dr. Winn handles everything from insurance denials, pharmacy costs, quality measures, and even after hours calls himself. Dr. Winn believes that by doing so, he’s able to give his patients the care and attention they deserve. According to Winn, “It turns out that when the doctor calls the insurance company, pharmacy, or specialist, things get through faster than when I used to have staff for all these tasks.”
And while Dr. Winn admitted that “owning and managing a solo private practice in 2020 can be frightening,” he knows that people are desperate for a primary care physician who is available and listens. That’s how he’s grown his practice to over 600 patients, mostly by word of mouth. “As a solo practitioner, I guarantee patients they only see me. I purposefully design my schedule to see people the same day if they are sick. I make my visits 30-60 minutes long and don’t overbook, so there is never a rush,” says Winn.
After working in many clinical settings in his 20-year career and seeing first-hand how little time patients got to spend with the doctor, Dr. Robert Winn notes that the most rewarding part of owning his own practice is “having the time to actually listen to patients. It gives me great insight into what their real concerns are.” Winn notes that this is the number one piece of positive feedback that he gets about Real Wellness. According to one patient review, “You simply won’t find better care anywhere else. 30-minute appointments. Texts with patients. This is how medicine should be done in 2020…” while another reviewer stated, “He was beyond helpful and kind to my son who desperately needed a physician that would look at HIM and not just at his chronic illnesses. My son felt seen, heard, excited, and hopeful in regards to his treatment…”
Studies have shown that doctors stop listening on average after about 11 seconds, often interrupting patients. Dr. Winn notes that while working to build his private practice, he’s been working in the urgent care field. “I’ve seen over 12,000 patients in that setting, often hearing that people can’t get in to see their family doc. People have a lot of unmet primary care needs that I intend to address in my new practice. While there will always be a need for urgent care facilities, my aim is to reduce their use among my patients by being available.”
