AI Learning Robot "Musio" Makes Its Way Into Japan's Private and Public Schools
"1 Musio per student" environment expected to increase students' language learning achievements
Santa Monica, California, November 14, 2017 (Newswire.com) - Japan's bestselling AI robot "Musio" is now being used for English classes in a number of Japan's private and public schools. AKA, the developer of the robot and its AI engine, announced that Musio has been deployed to be used in the English language classes of Kyoto, Toda, and Kashiwazaki City's elementary and junior high schools.
In September, Doshisha Junior High School in Kyoto became the world's first to operate an AI robot-assisted English class by deploying Musio. The school has chosen Musio as a means to provide a more effective and dynamic language-learning environment.
Musio has a great potential for use in English education. It offers various features from in-class review sessions to adaptive learning, allocating educational resources according to the unique needs of each learner.

Public schools in Toda and Kashiwazaki City also decided to follow suit. In October, Toda City announced to bring Musio to Toda Junior High and Toda Daini Elementary School. Kashiwazaki City also began running pilot Musio English classes, and is preparing to deploy additional units across 14 schools starting this November.
Assisting teachers in class, one Musio is assigned to each student to help practice English pronunciation and conversation exercises. Students are encouraged to engage with Musio even after class, as the Musio Robot Labs - similar to computer labs in schools- are open to all during lunch breaks and after-school activity hours.
"Musio has great potential in English education with various features from reviews to adaptive learning," said Takashi Tanda, faculty of the English Department at Doshisha Junior High School. "I believe the '1 Musio per student' environment will provide a much more dynamic learning experience."
Raymond Jung, CEO of AKA LLC said, "AKA's goal is to innovate education through collaboration between human and AI. The Musio labs will become a significant milestone for the upcoming era of personal robots."
Launched in Japan this April with SoftBank C&S, Musio became Japan's bestselling personal robot. It is currently being spotlighted as the next English solution among Japan's public schools and top education companies.
