Allinea Adds Spark To Debugging With Allinea DDT 3.1
Ease of use and performance at scale leaps again with release of Allinea DDT 3.1.
Online, February 1, 2012 (Newswire.com) - Allinea Software today announced the release of the latest version of Allinea DDT, version 3.1 and a set of novel features designed to both simplify and enable debugging of parallel and multithreaded applications.
Sparklines - a new zero-click graphical comparison across processes that automatically show data values across processes.
New offline mode allowing you to debug while you sleep - ideal for those machines that are hard to get interactive time on at scale.
Scalable tracepoints that provide a fast and scalable alternative to using printf/write for debugging.
Always-on static analysis - for auto-detection of common programming errors.
Support for Co-array Fortran and UPC.
Support for NVIDIA CUDA 4.0 and 4.1 toolkits - within days of NVIDIA's CUDA 4.1 toolkit release.
"Users need more performance and are buying hardware that has ever more parallel processors and potential, but the reality is this - if their software doesn't work when deployed to the hardware, then performance is not improved at all," said Mike Fish, CEO of Allinea. "We provide tools that allow people to debug that software simultaneously on a few hundred thousand processors so they can achieve the full performance potential of their new systems. This is a unique benefit of Allinea DDT."
The one tool to debug all - at scale and at speed
"Our vision is to provide tools for software developers to take advantage of the parallelism present in todays systems, from desktop GPU and multi-core machines through to the largest systems in the world," said Dr. David Lecomber, CTO of Allinea Software, "This latest release of Allinea DDT adds some truly innovative features - such as sparklines for viewing data across processes, instantly, which builds on our existing smart highlighting of data values. Adding static analysis into the debugger is also a leap forward for users - static analysis hints at parts of the source code that are incorrect and DDT will highlight this whilst you debug."
Over the coming months, Allinea Software will be delivering a series of short webinars that delve deeper into the intelligence within Allinea DDT. Find out more on their website.
