Anne Sempowski Ward is currently the President & CEO of The FORWARD Group, an organization committed to helping individuals, companies, and communities move forward. She assists clients with developing winning business plans as well as corporate, operational and marketing strategies.

Mrs. Ward's almost two decade-long career has been defined by her ability to successfully lead business turnarounds, high-profile acquisitions, classic re-branding efforts, corporate reorganization and restructuring, and business start-ups.

Prior to founding The FORWARD Group, Mrs. Ward was President and Chief Operating Officer of Johnson Publishing Company, Inc., parent company of Ebony & Jet Magazines and Fashion Fair Cosmetics. In that role, she had responsibility for all aspects of global operations including sales, marketing, product development, and supply chain across all JPC brands. She started her career at Procter & Gamble and later moved to Coca-Cola. At both Fortune 100 companies she led several billion dollar brands and pioneered African-American marketing.


Mrs. Ward has been recognized for her business leadership by the YMCA, YWCA, Ebony Magazine and Black Enterprise. A portion of her career journey was also featured in the book "The Go-Getter Girl's Guide: Get What You Want in Work and Life" and she has appeared on several esteemed business panels.

Mrs. Ward has a bachelor's of science degree in Mechanical Engineering and Materials Science from Duke University. She also earned a Global MBA from Duke's Fuqua School of Business.
