Altus Dynamics Adds Prestigious Canadian Museum Of Civilization Corporation To Customer Community
Online, April 19, 2013 (Newswire.com) - In mid-2012 The Canadian Museum of Civilization Corporation (encompassing The Canadian Museum of Civilization, the Canadian War Museum and the Virtual Museum of New France) issued a competitive bidding process for the provision of a new Financial Management Information System. The goal of the project was to implement a modern, flexible and user friendly accounting system for the Crown Corporation to help support their activities and mission.
"CMCC is a large organization that handles two Canadian museums. This provides unique challenges, as several exhibits and projects are run throughout the year. Their legacy DOS-based system and processes were struggling to cope with the workload and they realised the need for a modern solution based on the latest and greatest technology." commented James Faw, VP of Product Innovation at Altus Dynamics. "Our Dynamics NAV based solution meets their needs for a powerful, flexible and intuitive system which will give them access to the information they need, when they need it, to run the Corporation far more efficiently" adds Faw.
Utilising Microsoft's SureStep methodology the project took less than 5 months from start to finish for analysis, through design, to development and deployment. This highly sophisticated project involved extensive mapping of CMCC's processes and procedures, and reflecting this in Dynamics NAV." Despite the significant level of complexity, great work by both the Altus and CMCC project teams meant that the project was brought in on-time and on-budget - this in spite of a slight upgrade in scope. This level of performance is something that both project teams are rightfully proud of", says Faw.
"As an Ottawa native myself, I was well aware of the tremendous cultural contribution made to Canadian society by the CMCC. When the opportunity presented itself to be part of helping them continue to grow and improve their offering to the millions of visitors to their museums, it was very exciting. The goal was always to provide the users at the CMCC with a system that they liked, and therefore would use for years to come. Now that our shared goal has been achieved and they're live, I feel a real sense of personal pride that Altus are now part of their success story." comments Managing Partner at Altus Dynamics, Colin Dickinson.
The Corporation now have 25 full NAV users, while a further 100 users will have security-defined access to the data, via Altus Employee Portals.
Some of the benefits that the CMCC have now gained by implementing this solution include; having an integrated system where information is consolidated and organized in a user-friendly manner, a reduction in processing times, easier reporting capabilities and automation of processes that were previously cumbersome and manual.
