Ambition's Debt on Kickstarter
Set in a post-apocalyptic world and adapted from William Shakespeare's epic tale of honor, ambition, betrayal, and the supernatural.
New York, NY, October 26, 2014 (Newswire.com) - The Story:
Set against the backdrop of a post-apocalyptic world, the story follows the downfall of Rome’s most honored citizen, Marcus Brutus, as he conspires to assassinate Julius Caesar in order to forestall tyranny and preserve democracy.
"Cry havoc and let slip the dogs of war!"

The Production:
The vision is to secure some sort of large Industrial Warehouse/Factory type space, probably in Brooklyn or Queens, and shoot the entire film inside this facility. Our production designer will create a set that can be manipulated to represent the various locations of the story. To that end, lighting and sound design will be key in setting the tone and establishing locations. The point won't be to hide the fact that we are in a warehouse, but rather embrace it as the stage for our "play".
The approach will be very much like that of a stage production, leaning more toward minimalism and abstract storytelling techniques opposed to historical authenticity. I want to preserve the essence of a live performance and the experience of watching actors tell a story, while at the same time, create an amazing visual experience through dynamic cinematography.
The concept is a kind of post-apocalyptic Rome, in which Caesar has restored a thriving and ordered society after a period of long and bitter wars. Costumes will be modern. But not suits and ties. More like remnants from a time before the collapse.
Rehearsals for this project will begin at the end of February 2015 and continue for three weeks. Principal photography will take place during the last two weeks of March 2015.
Casting:
In September we conducted a workshop of the script. It culminated in a staged reading presentation for invited guests. The event was held at the DiMenna Center for Classical Music, Mary Flagler Cary Hall. We were very fortunate to have an amazing ensemble of actors join us to explore the script. If the stars align in our favor, offers will be made to this same group of talented individuals, along with a host of other high quality performers. Notable names include: Colman Domingo (Selma), Dan Butler (Crazy, Stupid, Love), and Pernell Walker (The Butler).
