As with all American Library Association (ALA) events, the 2014 event will be hosted at the Las Vegas Convention Center and offers exciting content, engaging and relevant programmes and the opportunity to network with like-minded people.

The 81st annual American Library Association (ALA) conference and Combined Book Exhibit (CBE) is tipped to be a cost-efficient event in the city that never sleeps, Las Vegas! As with all ALA events, this 2014 convention offers exciting content, engaging and relevant programmes and the opportunity to network with like-minded people from the 26th of June to the 1st of July. There is an Early Bird registration open from mid-January 2014 that you should avail yourself of, along with housing opportunities still open.

Following the great success of the 2013 Chicago conference, this year attendees will have access to over 800 exhibitors who will display their books and e-books in the exhibit hall along with the latest in digital content, e-books, innovation, library transformation, community engagement, books and authors, leadership and policy updates, and the added opportunity to enjoy networking and social events. Related events such as preconferences offering in-depth professional development; hundreds of authors; conversations - facilitated and informal, planned and impromptu; the ALA JobLIST Placement Center; and a range of other opportunities may also catch your interest.

At the Las Vegas Convention Center you will find over 500 programs, discussions and fast-paced 45-minute sessions on emerging topics and trends such as connecting teens through YouTube; word-based classification; community/campus collaboration and engagement; TumblarianTalk; "secret shopping;" open-source software; presentation pointers; Pinterest and digital archives; underserved populations; makerspaces and making; thriving as a young leader; the Library as Incubator Project; early literacy; using data; the SuperPAC EveryLibrary; revving up storytimes; Illinois' Soon to be Famous project; and the blurring lines between media, form and genre, along with 36 Ignite speakers with slide presentations.
