"American Meat" Documentary Tackles Issues of Sustainable Agriculture
Online, November 17, 2013 (Newswire.com) - Passion River Films is proud to announce the upcoming DVD release of American Meat, a solutions-oriented documentary about the current state of the U.S. meat industry.
First explaining how America arrived at our current industrial system, the story shifts to the present day, showing the feedlots and confinement houses, not through hidden cameras but through the eyes of the farmers who live and work there. The documentary introduces the revolution taking root in animal husbandry, led by the charismatic and passionate Joel Salatin. Stories are shared of farmers across the country who have changed their lives to start grass-based farms, and highlights everyday solutions people can make to support America's agriculture.
In addition to Joel Salatin, experts interviewed include: Fred Kirschenmann, Distinguished Fellow for the Leopold Center for Sustainable Agriculture at Iowa State University; Steve Ells, founder and co-CEO of Chipotle Mexican Grill; and Paul Willis, eminent social scientist and professor at Princeton University.
"American Meat" will be available on DVD through Passion River Films on November 26.
