American Society For Indexing Announces Its 2013 Annual Conference In San Antonio, TX - April 17-19

"The Art and Craft of Indexing" is the theme this year, as ASI will hold its annual conference in San Antonio, TX, from April 17-20, at the Hotel Contessa along the city's river walk.

The ASI 2013 annual conference will be using the art and craft of indexing to bring order to the digital age, April 17-19, 2013 (workshops scheduled for Saturday, April 20). The conference will open with keynote speaker Judith Pascoe, M. F. Carpenter Professor, University of Iowa, and author of "My Last Index."

Joshua Tallent of eBook Architects will present a plenary session on "Indexing in the Age of eBooks." You will hear from Carolyn Diepeveen on team indexing, Beverly Pajer on vocabulary use, Mary Russell on craft indexing, Fred Leise and John Magee on taxonomy, and John Jardine Barkwell on legal indexing.

The ASI Digital Trends Task Force will report on eBooks and indexing. There will be an array of sessions for all skill levels; including indexing historical documents, style sheet use, technology and indexing, image tagging, textbooks on indexing, marketing, indexing for apps, and much more.

We will have Saturday workshops on getting started in indexing, XML, patterns, successful subheadings, PDF use, CUP embedded indexing, marketing, and taxonomy.
