Amsterdam Theater in New York Takes Center Stage for Walt Disney World Co. and NASCAR Boycott Clergy for Minority Youth Matters Movement Confirms New York Civil Rights March Route
New York, New York, March 28, 2017 (Newswire.com) - The Clergy For Minority Youth Matters Movement has announced the “Race for Change, Speeding for Education” civil rights march against the Walt Disney World Co. and NASCAR will take place on Saturday, April 15th at 1p EST in New York.
This coalition of clergy is requesting the presence of all clergy and lay persons, to assemble in the “Big Apple” to assert the power of community to ensure the rights to fairness and justice for minorities having equal participation and access within all facets of the lucrative motorsports industry. The march will begin at the steps of the New York Public Library, with a short march up to the Amsterdam Theater where the Walt Disney World Co.’s Aladdin and The Lion King have residences.
“Our efforts with the “Race for Change, Speeding for Education” civil rights march is a calling for the respect of human rights to opportunities, so that NASCAR and their corporate partners, will reflect an appreciation for the dignity of human value in people of color from diverse communities around the globe,” said Pastor, Dr. Luonne Abram Rouse, New York Civil Rights Leader and lead organizer, for the Clergy for Minority Youth Matters Movement.
“With the deep rooted history of civil rights activism in New York City and State, we are very confident that our “Race for Change, Speeding for Education” boycott will become a beacon of understanding within the motorsports industry that the Clergy for Minority Youth Matters Movement will not falter in our pursuit of equality and parity in motorsports, for we will continue to gain strength through our Almighty God,” continued Rouse.
“It is truly unfathomable to believe that in 2017, motorsports remains the most segregated sport in the 21st century,” commented Chaplain Akil Rose, founder of the Harlem Transformation Project and organizer for Clergy For Minority Youth Matters Movement.
“When you consider African Americans account for $1.3 Trillion dollars in annual spending power, and 35+ million people strong in the United States of America; NASCAR and their corporate partners need to quit acting like they are doing everything right and believing that the sport is just fine,” noted Rose.
“It is now time for NASCAR and their corporate partners to recognize the economic empowerment minorities have played, and continue to play, in this country, which has enabled corporate executives from companies like Disney, Monster Energy, Xfinity, Camping World and Goodyear the ability to frivolously spend with regards to their NASCAR corporate partnerships/sponsorships without extending financial provisions to individuals who truly know and understand how to better our communities,” continued Rouse.
