An Evening With Four Authors

The historically famous Book Carnival Bookstore will host four incredible local authors for an evening of readings, Q&A, and signings from their most recent titles of mystery, sci-fi, horror, and suspense.

Come join other book enthusiasts for an evening with four talented local authors who will read from their works, take questions, and enjoy some one-on-one time with readers. The attending authors and their works will include:

Garrett Calcaterra, author of "Umbral Visions" - Twenty years after he left, Dedrick Hearne returns to the once opulent Victorian style mansion where he grew up-and where his childhood friend, Penny, disappeared without a trace. In each room of the labyrinthine mansion Dedrick finds answers to the puzzle, but at the cost of reliving the horrific childhood he has put behind him. The only way to save himself and find out what happened to Penny is to unlock the doors of his family's past.

Sarah M. Chen, contributing author to short story collections "Death and the Detective" and "Little Sisters, Vol. 1" - Diverse detectives, a few PIs, some cops, some ex-cops, an insurance adjuster, ATF, a security guard, and a pair of Shadow Wolves--formidable Native American trackers who work with Homeland Security bring you double-crosses, revenge, things to prove, people just asking for it, and a couple of chances at redemption. All in crisp exciting prose.

Michael Hebler, author of "Night of the Chupacabra" and "Curse of the Chupacabra" - A story of one man's journey to reunite with his missing family, while the lethal creature that separated them, the mysterious and ravenous chupacabra, is never far behind. It is a unique combination of science fiction bloodshed with a more poignant tale of lost love set against a Western backdrop in the post-Civil War era. In book two, the extraordinary survivors continue to know no peace, as they are haunted by signs that the relentless creature remains on their trail.

Bruce McAllister, Hugo Award nominee and author of "The Village Sang to the Sea" - During the Cold War a 13-year-old American boy, Brad Lattimer, moves with his family to a fishing village in Northern Italy. It is no ordinary village. This is the village where Brad, too, will start to dream strange dreams and write his first stories; where, he will fall sick because the village's magic has a hold on him: It wants him to become something other than a boy--something that can never leave it--something it can have as its own forever.

For decades, Book Carnival has been a leader in Orange County book events by hosting honorable authors such as Dean Koontz, Michael Connelly, Patricia Cornwell, and many, many others. Once again, they will hold this evening event at their store located in the City of Orange.
